Academic Minor in Communication Studies
The Communication Studies Department offers an 18-semester unit minor for students who desire a supplemental academic program that documents competency in Communication Studies. Minor certification involves 9 semester units of required coursework and 9 semester units of approved elective coursework. At least half of the units must be taken from upper-division courses (3000-4000 level).
Students who wish to declare a Communication Studies minor must consult with the COMS Minor Advisor, Dr. Nelson, via email (lrnelson@calpoly.edu) prior to initiating the minor declaration process. Following a successful initial consultation, the student would then be directed to complete and sign the Communication Studies Minor Declaration Form. Please note that, based on your catalog (e.g., 22-26 or 26-28), you will need to select the appropriate form from the options below.
