Drew Gilmore & Eden Peterson Awarded Baker/Koob Grant

Under the direction of faculty advisor Dr. Leslie Nelson, Cal Poly students Eden Peterson (PSYCH) and Drew Gilmore (COMS) have been awarded a Baker/Koob Endowment for their proposal titled, "Impact of childhood trauma on former foster youths' well-being: The mediating effects of foster parent-child self-disclosure and communication accommodation."

The Communication Studies Department and Dr. Nelson are very proud of Drew and Eden for their work on this proposal! The Baker and Koob Endowments are designed to support hands-on, project-based learning opportunities for individual students and groups at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Because of their similar purpose, distributions of the two endowments are pooled and used to fund multiple student projects via a competitive process that utilizes a single application. Fundable projects include, but are not limited to, student support, student and faculty travel, student and faculty expenses associated with participation in student research, group projects, conferences, competitions, and equipment and materials related to student research.
