Communication Studies faculty members visited Denver, Colorado last week to attend the 91st Annual Convention of the Western States Communication Association which took place on February 21-24, 2020.
Comm Studies Annual Career Symposium

The Cal Poly Communication Studies Club is hosting their Annual Career Symposium next week. The Symposium provides an opportunity for students to learn more about ways that they can use their Communication Studies degree after graduation. Although organized by the Cal Poly Communication Studies Club, this event is open to all Cal Poly students. All majors are welcome!

As part of the university’s continuous commitment to diversity and inclusion, the annual Inclusion Starts with Me Teach In is scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 8 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. This event is open to the campus community and offers a daylong series of workshops that focus on topics related to equity and social justice featuring Cal Poly educators.
Alternative Breaks: Travel & Service Opportunities

The Cal Poly Center for Service in Action is facilitating service and travel opportunities for students. Travel locations include alternative break global service trips in both Italy and Nepal with a domestic option of traveling to Seattle.

Drew Gilmore & Eden Peterson Awarded Baker/Koob Grant

Under the direction of faculty advisor Dr. Leslie Nelson, Cal Poly students Eden Peterson (PSYCH) and Drew Gilmore (COMS) have been awarded a Baker/Koob Endowment for their proposal titled, "Impact of childhood trauma on former foster youths' well-being: The mediating effects of foster parent-child self-disclosure and communication accommodation."
