Comm Studies Annual Career Symposium

The Cal Poly Communication Studies Club is hosting their Annual Career Symposium next week. The Symposium provides an opportunity for students to learn more about ways that they can use their Communication Studies degree after graduation. Although organized by the Cal Poly Communication Studies Club, this event is open to all Cal Poly students. All majors are welcome!

Taking place Friday, February 21 from 10am-1pm (UU Conference Room 220), the event will feature professionals from various Communication Studies-related backgrounds as keynote speakers to present about their careers and offer advice. This is also an opportunity for alumni, faculty, and professionals to network and discover new opportunities.

The symposium will specifically cater to those interested in marketing, public relations, internal communications, nonprofit, and recruiting. Such careers include skills in written communication, coordination, social perceptiveness, spoken communication, active learning, organizational/small group communication, critical thinking, and fluency of ideas. Essentially, the day will revolve around the skill of communication.

Tickets are $14 and include lunch from Urbane Cafe along with a raffle ticket and a professional LinkedIn headshot. A limited amount of discounted tickets will be available for purchase at the door the day of the symposium as well.

This networking event aims to connect the dots between the skills students are developing in school and their career. The first portion of the event will focus on four keynote speakers along with time for questions. The last half of the event will offer various professional development opportunities.
