Notes
Jon Kawashima joined the Communication Studies department in 2023. From 2013 to 2021, he practiced law as a Deputy District Attorney for the counties of Santa Barbara (2013-2018) and San Luis Obispo (2018-2021). As an instructor, Jon enjoys bringing his experience as a trial attorney into the classroom to help his students become confident and effective advocates over matters in which they are passionate about. Jon strives to create an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging classroom environment where students learn how to effectively use their voices to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas. In addition to teaching public speaking, he also teaches COMS 1145 - Reasoning, Argumentation, and Writing.
