Notes

Dr. Leah Ransom joined the Communication Studies Department in 2015. Her research explores the intersections of digital rhetoric, phenomenology, simulation, and video game studies. She is particularly interested in how digital environments  -especially games- mediate subjectivity, agency, and the experience of self. Drawing from philosophy of mind and the philosophy of information, her current work examines the rhetorical and epistemological implications of virtual spaces. She has presented research at national conferences, including the National Communication Association(NCA) and the Rhetoric Society of America (RSA), and she is currently developing multiple projects for publication. In the classroom, Dr. Ransom encourages students to think critically about about how communication operates across both analog and digital contexts. She strives to create inclusive, intellectually curious spaces where students feel empowered to interrogate the technologies and narratives shaping contemporary life.
