Notes
Director of Spanish-language Debate Program and part-time lecturer in the Departments of World Languages and Cultures and Communications Studies at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
I am a SLO-county native and Californio, and the 7th generation in my family to be born in this county. I completed my undergraduate degree at Wheaton College, IL, and my Masters and PhD at University of California, Irvine. My research and interests span: Debate and advocacy in Spanish, Spanish national identity and identity construction, Spanish 19th-20th century literature, Flamenco and Spanish musical production, and Spanish California. I've published about famed poet Fernando Quiñones (Fall 2020) and a translation of the 1812 Questionaire sent to California Missions: "Ynterrogatorio y Respuesta”: A translation of San Luis Obispo’s Respuesta to the 1812 Ynterrogatorio by Gónzalez Carvajal" (2018), and I´m currently developing pedagogy and academic community of Spanish-debate in the United States.
