Dr. Carroll joined the Communication Studies department in 2022. His research centers on race, rhetoric, and world-making. Particularly, Dr. Carroll is interested in the ways that Black people use their words to develop different ways of living in the world.
In his work, Dr. Carroll often focuses on the political problems facing and solutions offered by Black people. Dr. Carroll’s work has been published in the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Communication and Critical Cultural Studies, Rhetoric and Public Affairs, and Rhetoric Society Quarterly.
