Notes

Jamie (she/her) joined the Communication Studies faculty as a full-time lecturer in Fall 2024. She has won several awards for her teaching, including the E.C. Buehler Outstanding First-Year Teaching Fellowship and the E.C. Buehler Teaching Fellowship.

She has also been awarded for a combination of her teaching, research, and service, including the William A. Conboy Outstanding Graduate Student Award and the Sene and Louella Carlile Scholarship, and served as an Assistant Introductory Course Director for KU's Public Speaking courses.

Her thesis analyzed how Jordan Peele's Get Out critiques post-raciality through the intersection between Black horror films and feminist consciousness-raising. Her forthcoming dissertation looks at how Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, Georgia, currently narrativizes Confederate public memory for visitors. In her spare time, she loves to go to the beach and read horror novels.
