Dr. Alison Yeh Cheung (she/her) joined the Communication Studies faculty in Fall 2022 and her scholarship and teaching interests include rhetorical criticism, rhetorics of race, critical media studies, and Asian American rhetoric. Her research explores race and ethnicity in popular culture and focuses on Asian American cultural production and industry. Her work can be found in publications such as Philosophy & Rhetoric and enculturation, and she has presented in conferences for the National Communication Association, Western States Communication Association, Rhetoric Society of America, and Association for Asian American Studies. Dr. Cheung received the top paper award from NCA’s Asian/Pacific American Caucus/Division and scholar of the year award from the National States Advisory Council. Her current research examines panethnic discursive formations and multi-sited cultural productions in transnational contexts. She has taught a variety of courses including Rhetorical Studies, Rhetorical Criticism, Media Criticism, Race and Media, Intercultural Communication, Asian American Media, and Public Speaking.
