Cal Poly Debate Team Garners More Success at Championship Tournament Feb. 21

Cal Poly’s Debate Team attended the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association’s Spring Championship Tournament at Moorpark College on Feb. 21. Debaters Brandon Bartlett (English) and Euni Kim (Communication Studies), both in their first year at Cal Poly, placed third at the tournament after arguing the merits of nuclear weapons. Both students were honored among the attendees from colleges and universities across Southern California and Arizona.

Since its inception, the Debate Team has significantly grown its numbers, and has also switched to the World Debate format. Currently, a total of 16 students (eight teams) compete on behalf of Cal Poly in intercollegiate debate tournaments.

Continuing the stream of growth and progress, the Debate Team will host the United States Universities Western Region Championship Tournament March 20- 22. Schools from throughout the Western United States will be in attendance, and the event will be free and open to the public.
