Jeremy Teitelbaum

Jeremy Teitelbaum presented a paper titled "Diversity and Inclusivity in Classroom Projects" at the 18th International Academic Conference on August 26th in London, United Kingdom. The paper was developed from work done in a Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology workshop.

Dr. Lorraine Jackson

Dr. Lorraine Jackson and student Carolin Eicher presented research titled Teen Monologues: Promoting Sexual Health Education Through a Teen Theatre Outreach Project at the 25th Annual Art & Science of Health Promotion Conference in San Diego, CA March 30 - April 3. Their research was conducted in the San Luis Obispo area with help from Francine Levin of CAPSLO.

Debate Success at PSCFA Spring Championship

Brandon Bartlett (English) and Euni Kim (Communication Studies) earned third place on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association's Spring Championship Tournament, hosted by Moorpark College in Moorpark, California. The tournament drew colleges and universities from Southern California and Arizona. During the final round, Bartlett and Kim debated about the merits of nuclear weapons. Bartlett and Kim are both in their first year of debating for Cal Poly.

The size of the Cal Poly Debate Program has increased significantly since switching to the World Debate format, as sixteen students (8 teams total) currently compete for Cal Poly in intercollegiate debate competition. The Cal Poly Debate Program will host the United States Universities Western Region Championship Tournament from March 20 - March 22.  Universities from throughout the Western U.S. have committed to attending this event and every debate will be open to the public.

Mustang Mentor


One of Cal Poly's intercollegiate basketball players, Hannah Gilbert, chose Dr. B. Christine Shea as a "Mustang Mentor."  The award goes to faculty who go "beyond the call of duty for their students . . . putting a personal interest in their student's academic success."  Dr. Shea was honored at the Cal Poly, U.C. Davis basketball game won by Cal Poly on January 29th.
