Carmen Navarro, Ph.D., is a fulltime Lecturer at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, Department of Communication Studies in the School of Liberal Arts.
Dr. Navarro is a published national and international researcher and scholar. Dr. Navarro’s research studies have focused on San Bernadino, California, United States of America, Paris, France, Europe, Orlando, Florida, United States of America, and other international terrorist attacks. Dr. Navarro earned a Ph.D. in Communication with her dissertation focus on media, terrorism and counterterrorism from Regent University. Dr. Navarro has presented in Virginia Beach, Virginia, New York, New York, United States of America as well as internationally in Florence, Italy and Lisbon, Portugal.
She previously served as a Lecturer at Loyola Marymount University in the Communication Studies Department and California State University Fullerton in the Department of Human Communication, Associate Professor of Strategic and Personal Communication at Liberty University, and a Tenured Professor of Communication Studies at Chaffey College.
In 2021, Dr. Navarro was a committee member for the National Communication Association (NCA) 107th Conference in the following divisions: Peace and Conflict Communication, Mass Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Rhetoric and Communication Theory.
Dr. Navarro has taught the following Communication Studies classes: Mass Communication and Society, Gender and Communication, Honors Small Group Communication with a focus on hate and peace groups, Effective Public Speaking, Oral Interpretation of Literature, Intercultural
Communication elective for the Homeland Security Certificate, Fundamentals of Communication, Logic and Argumentation with a focus on debates and research on Terrorism and Counterterrorism, Communication Theory, Methods of Inquiry and others.
